Things our (great grand) parents knew

Some of the most valuable lessons we learn in the hot room are ones that our elders tried to teach us.
That you can always do more than you think you can.

That pain is real, and it’s a part of life.

That suffering is optional.

That hard work is beautiful.

That attitude is everything.

That giving up isn’t a viable option.

That discipline and ritual are powerful healing tools.

That moving together makes us stronger.

For percussionist and teacher Jay Beck, these lessons are built into ancient spiritual traditions of the rhythm cultures. Such as West African drumming, which Beck teaches on Tuesdays at BYCF.
Studying these healing arts gives us modern-day access to old wisdom.

‘As a culture we have failed to learn and teach BASIC balance. Physical, mental, emotional balance. We have lost the rhythm of life.’

Come to drum class and to yoga…get your balance back.
